At 700 metres above sea level, in an idyllic place where the slopes of the Pohorje mountains gradually give way to the plains, where the silence and serenity of the surrounding forests and meadows can be felt, the “Pri Baronu” (At the Barons’) organic farm has been situated for over 200 years. Our farm covers an area of 18 hectares, 8 hectares of which are the fields, meadows, orchard, herb and vegetable gardens which are cultivated with our hard-working hands. Thus, we take care of the self-sufficiency of our farm. In 1991, we opened the doors of our farm for agri-tourism, so that our visitors can enjoy the delicacies from our kitchen in peace and quiet to their hearts’ (and stomachs’) content.
In 1999, we switched to environmentally friendly farming, for which we have received the organic label for many years. Since then, our work has been based on growing fresh and organic produce ourselves and then processing them as ingredients in tasty, high-quality meals and products. Some 22 different complementary activities are registered on our farm (tourism, education, processing, bread making, etc.).
Through hard work and commitment to our guests, our organic farm has written many stories over the years – stories of growth, development, trust, partnership and reputation.
For anyone who is interested in ecology, permaculture, processing of natural produce and marketing, we will prepare a guided tour and introduce the work on our farm. In the meantime, a delicious seasonal lunch will be prepared for you in our kitchen.
